Meet Katie: Lodi Photographer with a Heart for Real Moments
Hi, I’m Katie—the woman behind the lens at Katie Malinda Photography. I photograph high school seniors, weddings, families, branding clients, and real people all across Lodi, Stockton, and the Sacramento Valley.
But before I was a full-time photographer, I was a girl with a 35mm film camera in my backpack and a passion for freezing time. I’m also a high school English teacher, a mom of three, a storyteller, and someone who finds joy in the small, in-between moments most people overlook.
Today, I want to share 10 fun facts about me that actually influence the way I photograph you. These little things help me connect, build trust, and make your experience feel personal, not posed.

1. I’m a full-time high school English teacher.
This makes me patient, organized, and great at working with teens and families.
2. I’m a mom of three.
I get kids; I’ve seen every meltdown, every wild energy burst, and every sweet moment too.
3. I started with film photography.
It taught me to be intentional and trust my eye instead of overshooting.
4. I grew up in Chico and have lived in Lodi for 12 years.
I know the best photo locations around here—local vineyards, golden fields, and quiet back roads.
5. I believe awkward = authentic.
I guide you gently, but I love capturing the real stuff too; laughs, weird jokes, and messy hugs.
6. I love timeless over trendy.
I want your photos to feel just as meaningful decades from now.
7. I cry at weddings—yes, really.
That moment when you see each other for the first time? Goosebumps every time.
8. I notice the little things.
I’ll catch the hand squeezes, the wind in your hair, the toddler holding your leg. Those are the moments that matter.
